She has received training as a Centering Prayer Introductory Workshop presenter in May, 2021. It was on a retreat at St. Benedict's Monastery in Snowmass, Colorado that Suzanne first met and was taught the practice of Centering Prayer by Fr. Thomas Keating, then abbot of St. Benedict's. She was also part of the founding community of Contemplative Outreach of Metropolitan Washington, D.C., under the spiritual leadership and formation of the Rt. Reverend Eugene Sutton, now Episcopal Bishop of Maryland. Upon hearing the opening invitation to "Be still and know that I am God" (Psalm 46: 10) she learned to "consent to the transforming action of God within" in the 20 minute period of silence which followed.
Sue Roy Sue lives in Auburn, Maine. She is a retired health educator with a Masters in Adult Education. Sue has been praticing Centering Prayer since 2016. She began her journey in the practice of Centering Prayer when she attended a World Community for Christian Meditation Conference in Sherbrooke, Canada. The following year she attended a Centering Prayer Introductory Workshop in Kennebunk, Maine. As a result, these two events created a deep desire in her to incorporate the practice of contemplative prayer into her prayer life. Sue facilitates Centering Prayer gatherings at her parish church.
